Question Computer/harness swap?

First off, I'm new here so hello all.
I'm also new to the LS and Vortec engine families. My question is this; I have in my posession a 1999 6.0L (lq4?) engine that I rebuilt for a swap into a 1963 Chevy 4x4. The truck will be used mostly for towing and hauling but must be able to be a DD. Today I found an 8.1 Vortec from a 2002 truck but it is lacking the computer and harness. Can the harness and computer from the LQ4 be reworked easily enough to run the 8.1 or is it too much work? The reason I thought the 8.1 to be appealing is that the truck in question already has a 396 and I thought it may be a simpler swap than the LS. Any input is greatly appreciated
