Comp cams thumper cam
#4
The regular Comp Thumpr cam specs are 219/233 .553/.536 109 LSA for the LS series engines.
It has a bigger split pattern kinda like some of the TR trutorque cams.
Comp says "stock converter ok, best with 2000 converter & gears, choppy and thumping idle.Rpm range from 2000 to 6400".
What engine / truck do you have? If you have a heavy *** Crew Cab or ext cab, I would put some kind of higher stalling torque converter over the stock imo. A Circled or FTI 278mm would be perfect.

With you being a RCSB I'd get a FTI or CircleD 278mm 3200rpm converter. It's a good DD cam and you could still tow light loads if you wanted with a big trans cooler such as a tru cool 40k. I know plenty of people using the 278mm 3000rpm converter and still tows light loads fine. The 278mm is just a little bit smaller diameter over the stock converter and is still a tame converter. Later on if you want more, get a smaller diameter converter over the 278mm and if you start upgrading more things a built trans would prob be a good idea too.

Did one in a 03 silvy with a 5.3/w 180k on it. Could have used a valve job too but the owner didnt want to spend the $
With lts and a cai it made 320/340...took alot of tuning but drove pretty good with a stock converter. I was pretty impressed as our dyno dosent read on the high side.
EDIT.. It sounded badasssssss
