Default Comp Cam

I have been searching around for a new cam and from what I have read on other threads, I have decided to go with the comp 212/218 .522/.529 114, some LS6 springs, and some hardened push rods. After installing this cam will I have any problems with idleing? I don't want a choppy idle, maybe something similar to stock. Should I get it tuned? Also, will this cam hurt my gas mileage?

I bought the same cam you did. But it aint in yet! Tiburon said his gas mileage actually improved some with that cam. You might need to drill the throttle body plate hole slightly bigger to smooth the idle out. Im betting it will want to seek or surge because the IAC counts are off. But then again it may idle fine. A tune will bring out the full effect of that cam. Im gonna get mine tuned.

I will probably get it tuned. Where did you buy your kit? I know I can buy the LS6 springs from a dealership, but what about the hardened push rods?

You will really want to get it tuned. Mine idled like crap till the tune.
No need for me to drill the TB blade.

I got my pushrods @ www.racenet.net. Look under firebird/camaro parts

make sure you go with '02+ LS6 springs. They will handle about .560 lift, but if you went with '01 springs it cannot keep up (.520 lift max)
Good Luck -it will be fun

I am starting to re-think about all of this. The money is getting too much for me.
comp 212/218 .522/.529 114 = $400
comp 918 springs = $160
Thunder Racing pushrods = $110
The cheapest guy to install this was $500
Tune at local speed shop = $250

Total = $1420
That seem alot for all off this......Maybe I should just spray it!
Any thought on the idea?

www.ls1f-body.racenet.net/valvetrain.php

Everything you need for $569.

I also got my cam used (5000 miles) for $200 bucks.

I am also looking at the same cam, but I don`t know if I`ll be happy! Maybe I`ll try the comp 216/220, .525/.532.
