I have a K&N and I removed the stock airbox mounting plate and folded back the piece of rubber behind the headlight/next to the radiator so it pulls cold air from the bottom and from the front. As dirty as my K&N gets in a hurry, i'd hate to see it with a bug catcher funneling crap up to it.

I ve modified my stock air box by removing the mounting plate undernerath the air box and cutting 4 half dollar shaped holes in the bottm. Hey it's better then stock but still I'm not pleased with it.

Did it increase the intake noise any?

I seem to have created some deep toned harmonic from my mod. On a cruising lightly 2-3 shift there is a huge organ like bellowing around 2500rpms.

I mean, intake noise overall was increased (which I think is cool) but this certain noise is very loud at times (which I also think is cool).

Just wondering if it might have to do with the way that my lower box was cut. Sort of like blowing air over the top of a Coke bottle and getting that hollow tone, sounds similar.

No I haven't notice that much of a noise difference.

i went with the volant. very happy with it so far. i have had the K&N kit before in my old truck. it was okay but the filter tended to get very dirty very fast.

I like it ... I got it because I thought it was the better built one at the time. It's the only one I have had, and it's the only one I will have, unless someone wants to send me a new one.

I went from stock, to custom ram air with 2-4" tubus, to K&N, and in town and normal driving the K&N isnt any better than stock IMO. The best one was the custom ram air.

Hey flyer, wana trade and see how great the K&N is? j/k
