Default clicking/popping

im experiencing a click/pop intermittently( though it seems to be happening more often) when i make low speed left hand turns.ive only noticed this since the new transmissions gone in, but then again i didnt notice it getting hot before the new transmission... and that turned out to be the water pump.im pretty sure its the rear end? theres also been a steady metallic whine-not super high pitched... kind of a dull sound thats consistent with my rate of speed, which i also had been thinking was the rear end. im checking the fluid tomorrow... hope i didnt put it off too long. im not hard on it, its a 4.8 so it`ll barely break the tires loose... so i cant figure out why it would be going out.hopefully changing the fluid or adding fluid if its low wil solve this. id still like any suggestions as to what it might be though. maybe someones experienced the same thing, let me know.

thanks

Is this a new truck? The popping, does it happen pretty much when you turn the wheel or does it happen also going over rough roads? And can you feel a little play in the steering column. To me the popping noise sounds like the Intermediate Steering Shaft. Do a search on here about that. It is a problem that GM knows about and will fix with a new shaft. I and just about everyone else here has had to have it done. So thats no biggie. The whine? couldn't help ya. Where does it sound like its coming from? Have you changed out anything in the rear, or even your stereo. Speed consistant whines can be from the rear end, tranny, aftermarket radio installs(alternator whine), or power steering pump sometimes. I'm sure there are others, but this might be a few things to check out.

the trucks a 99, and the front end has all kinds of play... it makes nice clacking sounds over rough roads and wears the tires funny..havent had the time or money to address that yet... also the cats pop all the time... im used to these noises.. and im used to them coming from the front of the truck. this popping clicking is coming from the rear... and ive only noticed it since having the transmission replaced.. but it only does it on left hand turns. im also hearing a click sometimes when coming to a stop.. but i think thats just the transmission engaging into first?sometimes from park it engages pretty hard... but overall this transmissions pretty sweet, i really like the way it shifts as compared to the old one. the whining was there before and after the transmission.. and im pretty sure is the rear end. thanks for your reply... any more ideas... anyone else
