Default ideas please

my truck is still making an ungodly clicking/popping on occasion(two or three times a trip)when i make left turns... and sometimes coming to a hault in a straight line. it feels like something is binding up... you can feel it through the entire truck when it pops... sometimes resonating the drive shaft. its making me sick. i just took out a freaking loan to pay off this new transmission.could it be the transmission? i want to take it to the guy but i KNOW im going to get the runaround... i can already tell im going to lose my temper with the guy and i havent even approached him with the problem yet. i know im not the only person to make several return trips to a quote/unquote reputeable transmission shop. what the ***** the deal? is it that difficult to do one of these things right the first time? this is the second transmission already and fixin to be the fourth time ive taken it back to him this month. im ready to wring his neck.i suspect its the transmission or something related to something they did during swapping them out because it made none of these popping clicking noises before i took it to them, didnt do it with the first piece of **** they put in here... i noticed straight away after pulling out of his shop that the truck was making noises it hadnt before after the second went in. ANYONE have ANY idea of what i should be looking for? why is it only doing it on left turns? why is it doing it when im rolling to a stop? anything fellas help me out. sorry for the rant im just frustrated as hell.

thanks

Don't know about all the tranny stuff, but have you had your front end checked out???
Could be upper or lower balljoints, tie rod, wheel bearings, or intermediate steering shaft.
Just have your entire front suspension components checked out by a reputable alignment shop. Not at Gary's Garage!
Don't check it out yourself. A good shop will use pry bars at your balljoints while the weight of the truck is off the ground.
Don't stranggle the tranny guy just yet.
If your front end checks out to be good, then by all means let him have all of it:

i think there was a thread about this problem before. mine has a loud popping noise when coming to a halt and when turning from a stop. it sounds as though it is from the fr0ont end. i have searched and checked everything. i am going to take it to an alignment shop soon and have them do an alignment and let them know. we will see then.

I have had mine in for a "popping" in the front end. It was the suspension and not the tranny. There is a TSB out on this. I also have "slop" in my driveshaft that will pop some when I take off or stop. It is a design flaw for which there is not much you can do. Factory components are built with a tolerance range and if the tolerances stack up poorly across the components, you get "drivetrain clunk" due to loose fits. I am SOL on this one. Do a search on this site and you can find quite a bit of info on these.

its getting worse, today while at the ford dealership picking up a part for the beater it did about three pops in a row.. still only on a left hand turn. im certain its behind me...it kind of feels like the rear may be locked? the inside wheel(drivers side) will kind of spin ever so slightly ..not a full on spin but kind of a grip grip grip grip. if that makes any sense. i dont know if the truck has a g80 or not.. i know those are prone to failure. is it safe to drive.. whats the worst case scenerio? im flat broke right now. the transmission put me under... so i cant afford to have it serviced, and what sucks is when i do it`ll probably be another stock piece of **** that replaces it because i cant afford an eaton or auburn right now.. or anytime soon. if the gear breaks at least ill be able to replace that with a 3.73. will this be something i can diagnose myself by pulling the cover?.... what should i be looking for?

thanks again

pilligula, I have my stock rear open differential with 3.42 gears that were pulled off long ago with low miles .. around 12k miles or so. If your interested, 100 bucks will take the whole setup. Shipping wouldnt be a problem since we're in the same city.
