I had a small exhaust leak and was planning on pulling my cats yesterday. I unplugged my O2 sensors, and forgot to plug them back in. The ses light came on, and I remembered. I plugged them back in when I got hame, but the light didn't clear. So I disconnected the batt. for a few minuites, and it still didn't clear. WTF? Is there some special way to clear the codes? I thought once the problem was fixed, they would clear.

My cousin had the same problem with the SES light. We took his car over to the local auto zone, but they didn't want to clear them...the guy said it was against the law
...We replaced the part that was needed and the SES went away. As far as your situation, the only thing to do might be to take it to the dealership or go to someone with an HP-tuner or scanner to remove it...

something similar happened to me but it was with my maf sensor.
after doing some work to the truck I forgot to plug in the maf, the light came on, turned off the truck pop the hood and plugged it back in but the check engine light stayed on.
took the truck to my friends shop asked him if he knew how to turn the light off.
he jumped in, turned on the key but did not start the motor, pumped the gas peddle 5 times in a steady rate, turned off the key switch, then started the truck and the light was gone.

I did the unplug the battery method, except for a couple hours or so. Light went off.
I too also tried it for a brief period, 10 mins or so, and it didn't go away. After that I unplugged it again and just left it unplugged for a while and came back later on that night and it was gone.

if it isnt a persistant problem, sometimes 3 or 4 driving cycles will turn it off. crank it up, drive around the block, turn the truck off for a minute or 2. do this a few times and it will usually turn the light off. CHIP

hell if it works then try it
