Default Cleaning cats???

Can the catalytic converters be cleaned out or will that just screw them all up?? When I get my Thorley's (hopefully next week) I amgoing to have to re-work the whole exhaust system and I want to keep the cats but the truck has 73,000 miles and I would hate to do all that work and have to get them replaced soon if they decide to crap out..

Define clean out ... If it's like I'm thinking there is a litle bit of work envolved in it, but it will make them nice and hollow. I don't think we are talking about the same thing though. Doing what I'm thinking will defeat the purpose of them being there, but it will pass a visual inspection.

Yeah I know what your talking about. I thought about that too but I dont want to spend another hundred bucks or so just for the dummy sensors. I was just wondering if there was some kind of solvent that I could spray through them and not hurt anything. Or should I just get new cats put on?? BTW you guys that work at dealerships how much do the factory cats run anyway?? I can go yhrough a guy who gets a pretty good discount from dealerships.

I wouldn't worry about them. Getting sensors would be cheaper than replacing the cats.

yeaqh it would be alot cheaper to cut the cats off and get the sensors. even if you put some cheap cats on their they will still run $100 each plus install.
