Default Chevy 2001 Silverado Engine swap

I have a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado LS 4.8L. The engine is nearing the end of its life, and I plan on buying one that will give me some more power. I would like to stay around $3500 to get this done. (if possible). Would I see a big difference in acceleration if I were to put in an LS1? Or am I better off going with a Crate engine or something. I want an engine that would be a direct fit, or fairly cheap to make it fit right. Suggestions on engines that WILL work, and any additional parts I would need to buy would be great. (My goal is not just to replace the engine, but to increase my power) Links would be greatly appreciated. New to this forum, and am not sure if I posted this in the right area.... So if someone could help me with that too. Thanks for any/all help.

I am having trouble finding one that is the same year, with an automatic transmission. Would all of the Silverado 4.8L to 6.0L work? Or do I need to find the same year and everything else.

You need an 01-up 6.0L to work with the factory 4L60E auto. The basic long block is the same. You will need to have the computer tuned for the new engine. There is plenty of documented swaps on this site.

So if I were to get an LQ9, do I have to find one for an automatic one. (being my truck is automatic) Because Looking on ebay, there is one with 64K miles for $2600. (I don't know what a good price is, or if that is considered low miles). But it doesn't say if it is auto or manual... Do I use my own transmission, or can I tell by the pictures? Thanks.

6.0 LITER VORTEC ENGINE MOTOR CADILLAC ESCALADE LQ9 64K DROP OUT | eBay

If you look at the pictures of it, does it look good? Or does it look trashed? I don't know much about this kind of stuff. aha. Is that a decent price? Thanks again.

And I just noticed that the LQ9 has two exhaust pipes... My truck has 1. What do I do about that?

Did the Cadillac LQ9's have a Vortec Max engine cover? I thought they only had the Cadillac crest logo.
Anyway the price is probably decent assuming the 6 month warranty actually means something if there's a problem. You're buying extra stuff you don't need (pedal assembly, PCM, harness, etc) but you might be able to sell some it to recoup some of your cost. The LQ9 was only available with the auto to my knowledge so it will bolt right up to your transmission. You will notice a decent gain in performance between the two engines.
