Default Cheep mod to get heat out

For us who have stock hoods heres a cheep mod to get heat out of the engine bay. Remove the rubber seal on top of the cowl wiper. Then cut some holes in the front side of the wiper cowl that will connect through to the vents in the top of it. Get so black aluminum screen from Lowe's or home depot $7.00. I cut the screen to cover 3 or 4 openings at a time. Then took a soldering rod placed it on top of the screen till the plastic melted to it. With my 05 fans on high you can feel a lot of heat coming out with the hood closed.

I pulled the rubber out of mine a while back, but I have thought about putting it back in. The reason is that although it helps get the hot air out while sitting, is there positive pressure at the base of the windsheid when moving?

Interesting...looks factory too. Not so sure I'd want all of that heat being forced on to my windshield on a daily driver, but for a truck that sees alot of the 1/4 mile, it looks like a neat mod. I'm curious as to how much extra junk (leaves, twigs, etc.) will end up in the cowl and eventually work it's way into the HVAC system?

the cowl is one of the most aero dynamically part of the vehicle. When driving air is swept over the hood and up the windshield. Hence why they put your a/c intakes up their. So I can see it pulling a little big of heat out of their.

Do you have anyway of check underhood temps vs motor temp/outside air temp from before and after?

Of course there is. Why else would they have put cowl induction on 60's musclecars?

They seal it off from the factory to keep any fumes from the engine compartment i.e. oil spill/leak or exhaust leak from being sucked into the fresh air intake and going into the cab.
