Default cheap cam?

since i have the motor apart i was thinking about a couple of minor upgrades.

i might be able to afford a 409 short block before too long but not the heads i want so i am going to upgrade the heads a little. i think i am going to put in some 918 springs, clean up the combustion chamber, maybe get some head studs since they will work on my next set up too.

wondering if i should toss in some kind of small cheap cam, something like an 02 zo6 cam? or some other cam. the other option would be to go ahead and buy the cam i plan on running in the 409 and put that in the 6.0, might be a little big though, or should i just skip the cam? probably be at least a few months before i get started on a 409.

I wouldnt buy something you will get rid of in a few months buy the cam you will end up with and work around that. I've wasted too much money going step by step just make one big step and save yourself the money.

Parish check out the LS6 kit at SDPC,it has valvesprings good for .600 lift with titanium retainers,Manley 7.40 push rods, double roller timing chain setup and a 02 LS6 cam. When you get ready to upgrade just toss in a hotter cam.

Maybe a set of ls6/z06 springs and a used cam to get a feel for it. I would wait and order a custom cam for the new motor though.

Get Allan @ FutralMotorSports to make you a custom stroker/turbo cam. Give him a call and tell him what your plans are. I'm sure he knows what would work best with your application. 1-877-78-43278

what are you looking to put in your 409 parish? that really dictates if you wanna put it in the 6.0 or not. you can put a damn big cam in that 6.0 without it being "TO BIG" there's guys running well over .610 lift on 345ci motors. now that wont make the same power in your 6.0 as it will when you put it in a 409 but it's a starting point and you'll already have some sort of experience tuning that cam once you get ready to go for the big motor.

Just get a used Z06 cam and cheap springs. Wait and get the custom cam and double springs for the 409. If you grenade another motor, you could be sorry.
