Default CCSB 4.8L 4x4....Need more power!

I bought a 2011 CCSB 4x4 4.8L and threw on some ProComp 20's and 33" Toyos along with a Tiburon tune. So far I've pulled some real heavy loads and it handled them very well; 16ft flat bed filled with lots of random metal for construction and the occasional load of hay bales.

The truck pulls an average of 14.5mpg's mixed city/highway but I have to really p**sy foot it lol.

Ok, here's the deal.....I'd like to throw on a CAI but I've heard they really make no difference. Would also like to get some longtubes but don't want to see gains in the upper RPM's where the truck never drives.

What can I do to get some "USABLE" power?

Thought about getting a 5.3L block bored over, throwing in the LS1 internals and some milled heads for a budget build.

some longtubes would help all around low end and up top , and the 4.8L and 5.3L is the same block and its the same bore the diffrence is ther 4.8 crank has a smaller stroke and the 5.3 /5.7(ls1) / and 6.0(Lq's) and (ly6) have the same stroke , have you thought about a stall like a 278mm you can tow just as much as with the stock converter and will gaine tons of torque ... just my .02

Yes I know the blocks were both the same but I'm not sure if anything from the 5.3L can be used in the build?

I also looked at getting a Circle D stall but not really sure how that might work out if I increase the stall speed....guess I need to call and ask what's best for my truck. The truck feels good with the tow/haul mode engaged, much more positive feel when accelerating as supposed to when its off....might just be me lol.

If my wife let me spend the money I'd buy a 6.2L but she won't let me.....TVS would be nice though.

Don't want a converter that's gonna raise the stall speed because I'd actually like to raise my MPG some.

Blower or a 6.2.

4.8 is a boat anchor in a truck that big with as crappy gears they put in them now days. You'll spend a shitload modding it and when you are done you will have the equivalent cost of the 6.2 invested in the mods and it still wont run as good.
