Default cats

I have read from a guys past forum that catalytic converters, if free-flowing enough, can actually be better than no cats at all...is that correct? Also, if that is correct, what is the best pair of cats to buy for a 4.8L dual application? (as far as sound and performance go)

Althought some people did not notice a difference, I personally thought it was well worth delleting cats.
