Default Cats

After doing a basic brake job yesterday on the truck at 73,000 miles, I got a code for the cats being bad. I had the code cleared today and then it came back on about 30min. later. It just feels odd to have the cats go out at 73,000 miles. I guess it gives me a good reason to go with the supermaxx headers now, but I can't afford it at the moment. However, I have about 10 months before the inspection has to be redone.

That's what I was thinking, that a rear O2(s) is/are bad.

If not, then it's possible that your cats are bad just unlikely as the vehicle is so new. Isn't there some type of emission warranty on the vehicle?

I know how you feel. My Formula only has about 15k miles on it, and I got the SES light the other week. When I looked up the code, found out one of the cats was bad. I thought the vehicle is usually warrantied to somewhere around 75k miles on problems like that.

What code(s) did you get?

I just scanned mine and got a "PO420, Bank 1"...Is this the crappy Whipple Computer for my Supercharger causing this? Or do I really have bad o2 / cat?

Thanks,

Matt

I killed a set of cats a while back when I used large amounts of nitrous. I was running a lil rich...that may have caused them to take a poo.
