Default Carb'd LY2 build, input appreciated

Here's what I'm building.

4.8 LY2 Carb'd for a sub 3000lbs 91 s10 - Daily driver with highway driving as well.

I know the 243-799 heads are LS6 heads but will the Zo6 cam actually work ok for the carb? Even if its not PERFECT thats ok, price looks very nice and the heads already have the springs for it. If this will NOT work ok, what do you suggest? And will it require new springs as well?

Carb: Here is another spot I'm scratching my head on. I'm leaning towards a 750dp but I will be porting and polishing these heads so will that make an 850dp more of what I'm looking for?

I have no transmission as of yet nor do I know which way I'm leaning towards other then it has to have OD or 5th gear.

Just wanting some other input, remember, SERIOUS small budget build and daily driver.

Thanks guys

a 750cfm will be more than enough carb for what you're doing, i'd expect you to want smaller jets but it would work fine, but don't go bigger. i would personally get a smaller carb, something in the 650cfm neighborhood, especially if you're set on mechanical secondaries, but that's me. a 4.8 is a small engine and even with a mild cam and ported heads spinning high rpms it won't require that much carb. just wondering, why do you want to run a double pumper for a daily driver? they're not exactly efficient or necessary for a mild engine and i think a vacuum secondary carb would suit you better.

The more I think of it your right, a vacuum secondary would probably fit me better.
As far as the 750, I have read all over including LS1tech and they seem to think that these engines flow so much better then the old school engines that you should go bigger.

I have not found anyone with a build such as mine to even ask what they are running and how its working.

750 is more then enough, everyone wants to overcarb a motor so they can say they run whatever carb. Resist the urge, its only a 4.8L. A 850CFM carb will feed allot of motor.

750 is definately enough....especailly for a stock cammed 4.8. 650 is probably better suited. FWIW i have a 750 dp that i'm putting on a LS2 with TFS225 heads and a 23x/24x cam. I do plan to borrow a 850 to see which works best.

the LS6 cam will work although it's not "ideal" but i would put a dual plane intake on that setup to keep some torque down low with that 4.8.

welcome to the forum and start a build thread in the midsize projects section. I have a s10 i'm slowly working on too.
