I've got about 47,000 miles on my truck and haven't replaced the fuel filter, rear end fluid, or transmission fluid. The guy where I get my oil changed said Iwas supposed to get my fuel filter changed at 2x,000 miles. Is this hurting my performance?
I plan on getting it changed next week along with my oil, just wondering?

WHen I picked up my "GM Certified" truck it still had the ORIGINAL fuel filter on it with 37K mi. Needless to say that was the first thing I changed and made a difference in MPG and performance.
Besides it takes ~30min from gathering tools to putting everything back to do it.

LMAO @ Neil. Definately change the fuel filter. I change mine every 20K. Nine bucks and a little spilt gas is worth the piece of mind.

The fuel filter is on the frame rail on the drivers side and all it requires is a line wrench to undue the fittings. I don't know what size but, I think it's pretty big. You really don't even need the line wrench but, I have destroyed those fittings before with regular wrenches.
Might need a screw driver also. I've never changed mine but, have been thinking about it.

I went with a Canton high capasity fuel filter it may be overkill but with a supercharger or a shot of nitrous you can't be to carefull. The filter is a little pricey but it has 1/2 the restriction and uses replaciable elements.

how hard is it to do?
So be sure to use an old shop rag to block the money shot. Don't be surprised if about 5 gallons of gas tries to drain down the framerail and then drip onto your crotch.
