your gonna have to ask yourself what your really gonna use your truck for.
what kind of sound do you want?
are you willing to run a higher stall converter?
Fuel Mileage?
a lot of guys on here use cams with durations around 220 and lift around .580 and a 112 lsa would give a lot of lope where a 114 will be less agressive sounding.
personally i think i'm going for something for like 224/224 .600/.600 on a 114lsa custom grind.

your in kinda the same situation as me, but i need the torque not to tow, but to move a heavy truck. i would say try to kep it around 220* duration or lower unless you can spend some money on a good converter and if you want that good sound go with a 112lsa i would call comp cams and ask them about the lift to keep plenty or torque. i was originally thinking that .584 was nice but i have talked to a couple of guys who have had custom grinds with high lift lke i mentioned earlier for that express purpose.
also, i downloaded comp cams software which will tell you what cams they have for you off the shelf based on what you wanna use it for. very helpful. its called CamQuest. i think the download is free right now so i would give that a try. you can find it right on the opening page at

That cam seems a little big for a small block chevy in a heavy tow vehicle IMO. I'd be looking for more torque down low to get that rig moving...something with a little less intake duration.

Remember, this is a SBC, so alot of the common cam recommendations that you see around here go out the window...the majority have GENIII engines

ok well since obviously everyone who has said somethin is running a 00+ dont worry about it unless u look up a specific one out of comp cams catalog. Or go to Vinci, they are a sponsor on the far right of this screen. They have I think 4 cams for the OBS 5.7s. Good luck
