A lot fbody shop does cam/springs/pushrods for $500. The guys who helped me with the 6l swap want $400. $1000 is absurd. Doing it yourself is another option, there is tons of info out there, the LS1howto page, and also you can get help from members here.

i own a chimney company and i have no time right now to do it myself, its my busy season....... if i was to do this myself on a weekend with a couple buddies i would.... but its also my work truck and if i **** something up while doing it ill have to use my wifes envoy to tow my trailer till it got fixed and that would F her work up and we have a 6 1/2 mon old baby.... i would rather just have someone else install it professionally so if somethin went wrong it aint on me

pm joshluther, im pretty sure thats his s/n, he lives up by u, a while back i he gave me a price to do cam and such but i deleted the pm so i forget how much, much better than OSP, i used to live in SK and a friend of mine had some gauges but in there in his duramax and really just hacked his truck up IMO, the pryo stopped working, and the pillar ended up coming loose, dunno if it was a new kid or what...shitty part about RI is there is not many good reputable shops to bring your rig too...

My guess is, these shops your going to, think they have to pull the motor to do the swap.
You may want to show them the write up on how to do it without pulling the engine, or intake. See what they say then.

Hey congrats (6 1/2 months late ) on being a new dad.

$1000 in labor sounds like robbery. Ask them what their hourly rate is and then come back with asking them why they want to charge you 10 hours on a 4-5 hour job....not that I ever did one but I think I paid about $400 for cam only last time and my mechanic ain't cheap.

If they aren't familiar with LSx cam swaps then I'd go somewhere else that is
