Unhappy Cam swap on low mile motor

I have already called one shop near my base, and they said they wont touch it because the miles are to low Is this what I should expect for only having 8k on my truck?

Call around and find another shop. Some have even had the dealer do. Try going to LS1howto.com and reading the tech articles about doing yourself. It will be the best thing you ever did and save yourself $3-500 for something else in the process. If you're in the military, go to the hobby shop, they should have nearly all the tools you need.

It's actually pretty easy.

I read the cam swap article about 4-5 times before I did it and every time I read it, it seemed easier and easier. The guys at the hobby shop are "supposed" to be fairly knowledgeable in automotive stuff. I'm sure they could help if you got in a bind on something.

Well I plan on doing a cam swap but I want to keep it a stealth so very few people especially people who work on the truck from the dealership. I have talked to mutilple shops now and the best iea they have come up with that is proven is going with a Z06 cam out of the corvette. need 2001 or newer. I saw them dyno this on a truck just like mine and it made 40 more hp then stock and reved alot higher. the quota me 350 to install and that is my idea with only 1500 miles on my truck. hopefully I can pick one up from the Z06 forum or ebay for cheap like $100.

might outta be careful with the vette cam on your low end. many have said its sluggish down low and w/ your wheel combo it might be extremely bad, unless those are light weight rims you got, im not sure.
gotta have power to turn all that weight is what im gettin at.
