Default cam swap in a 00 silverado

I realize that everyone gets a little ticked when there is a new cam swap thread, but I couldn't find the info that I needed so I'm starting a new thread. I'm wondering what all I need to do a cam swap in a 2000 silverado. I know that I will need the cam, timing chain, pushrods, valve springs, and the gaskets of course, but will I also need to get larger injectors and a new fuel pump or will the stock one be fine for just the cam swap?

Fuel Pump will be fine. Injectors may get pushed to the limit, but they'll provide enough fuel for a 4.8/5.3 with full bolts + cam.

Good luck.

you dont need a fuel pump and etc unless you start adding N20 or boost

if you have low lines and the cam isnt anything EXTREME then the stock timing chain would work fine. We usually put LS2 timing chains on for friends when they want a cam swap.

depending on the lift ls6 springs will work.. anything over .540 then you want 918's

what size cam are you looking at?

oh and dont forget to get a new crank bolt pulley also

sometimes you can reuse the timing cover gasket. but i would def. put new water pump gaskets. heck if you dont have it done in a month or so. let me know you can drive up to KY. and i can help you install it.

BTW, it is a 5.3 engine. I plan on running the tsp 224r cam, tsp hardened pushrods, and comps 918 springs.

definately get w/p gaskets, and a new front crank seal if you have alot of miles

get a longer crank bolt for easier installation and then swap the new normal crank bolt once it's 50% on

valvecover gaskets should be fine, odds are your t-cover gaskets are fine to

i definately reccomend the ls2 chain that thing is freakin beefy for the cheap cost!!!

x2 on the stock injectors and fuel pump comment being fine
