cam and stall for 4.8
#11
Keep an eye on your useable power under the curve! This is where the smaller cams really shine. Esp. in something that will require that low end grunt. I.E. trucks,SUV's.

<---agrees with what most everybody has said so far except the 224. That's too big for a 4.8. The 4.8 is never going to be a torque monster, I'd say 220 cam would be the limit on a 4.8 & that's kinda pushing it. It's gonna be a dog under 3K no matter what so don't waste your time with the TB stall, go for at least a 3K stall.
edit: if you want the cam to "cut up" or "talk to you" look at 112 & lower lsa. if you want a stock sound, look at 114 & up.

I say a 220 would be a great performing cam but if you aren't wanting to do enough converter to make it run right, then stay small on the cam. You really need a 3600 to 4000 with any cam in a 4.8 for max performance, but not everone wants that. It doesn't peak torque on the stock cam till the mid 4000's, more cam is going to move that peak up. More cam you need more coverter....personally i wouldn't **** my money away on a tb converter. Get a real converter and you'll be much happier with whatever cam you get. Look at how many people on here have started with a tb converter and ended up changing it for something more aggressive.
