Cam and Springs install?
#1
Just wondering how difficult it was and how long it would take to install the 02' LS6 cam and springs. What's the basic procedure for installation? Do you need any special tools? And this install doesn't reaquire any tuning right?
Thanks for the help

In a nutshell if everything goes right, should take 3 to 5 hours. I think the hardest part will be removing the crank pulley. It should go something like this:
1. disconnect battery, remove radiator, waterpump, pulley and whateverelse to get to the front cover. (I'm not gonna go into great detail)
2. pull valve covers, rocker arm , and pushrods.
3. remove cover.
4. rotate crank until the dots on the timming sprocket and crank sprocket line up.
5. remove timing sprocket and cam plate.
6. rotate cam backwrds a few revolutions so the lifters will seat in the holders.
7. pull cam out slowly and carefully.
8. you may have to unbolt the condensor an lean it forward for cam clearance.
9. reverse order.
I left out some detail, but that's the quick answer.

As for the springs, you will need either a air fitting for the sparkplug holes or use the rope trick. Tbyrne has a cool little set for spring changes that I bought.
