very good choice, I like that cam for a mild 5.3, has more lope than the 212/218 and does real good as well, yes you will be ok with the yellow LS6 springs, get you some hardened pushrods 7.400

It's an excellent daily driver with a noticeable improvement over stock, that doesn't require a high stall converter. Prior to the cam swap, my truck ran 16.5@81.7 mph with bolt ons and 33" tall tires. After swapping in the cam, and a tuned 02 PCM I ran 15.6@89.5mph....almost a whole second and 8 mph gain. Not too shabby IMO. Only place I didn't really gain was my 60' times...they went from 2.5,2.6ish to 2.4-2.5ish. I'm sure that the 33" BFG All Terrains had something to do with that. A mild converter would definitely help also, but isn't necessary for my daily driven needs
The cam sounds almost stock too...a trained ear can tell that something's been done though.
Almost forgot, since the cam is so mild, I'm running LS6 valve springs, which allows me to just get in, turn the key, and go, with no worries about having to let the valve springs get some heat in em. Also, I can probably run the springs for the life of the truck with no worries

budhayes3: Any chance you have a soundclip of your truck? Looking at the same cam for my 4.8. Just trying to decide between a 112, 113, or 114 lsa?

FWIW, I'd recommend the 114 lsa for ease of driveability and tuning, although the duration is small enough that there's not a whole lot of overlap.

Sorry man, no sound clip...but my camera does record small videos, so I'll see if I can work something out by the weekend.

Well, the weekend was buzy and hectic, and needless to say, I didn't get the chance to get a vid clip. I actually tried to squeak it in, and when I went to start recording, the battery in the camera was dead
Maybe I can try to find some spare time during the week...sorry again guys
