Default Cam Selection

Hello,

I looking at building a new 6.0 for my 02 1500hd. The plans are to use some ported 799 heads that I have around the house and I’m aiming for somewhere between 10.5 to 11.1 of compression depending on the pistons I choose. This truck is not a daily however I tow around 3k-6k every now and then and use the truck to go out of town sometimes. I will be upgrading to a 2500 stall and it has 4.10 gears and it has 33in tires. I have a few cams in mind but I’m open to others as well but I want something that chops a little. The 3 cams I’m thinking about are:

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-8701
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-8713
https://www.texas-speed.com/p-5072-t...-camshaft.aspx

Which would you choose and why?

BTW, this will be probably stage 1 for this truck because I will probably go forced induction (most likely turbo) down the road. If I chose to do that I do have some 317 heads to use so I can lower the compression.

Of those, I'd choose the TSP one. Both of the Summit ones look like for square port heads not cathedrals, and the 2nd one just looks like too much.

"Turbo" should not be a factor. I'd pick one NOW for what you're doing NOW, and worry about one for "turbo" when/if that time ever comes.

The TSP one on a 114lsa would be good now and work well with a turbo down the road.
