James is good about chronicling his exploits. He must have quite a multimedia library.

i have a set of vortecs.... they have 80k on them, and i had no smoke on startup or anything and then i spun a rod bearing and i also lost part of a spark plug in the cylinder, there is the slightest nick on one of the valve seats on mine but i don't think its enough to cause any problems... but a simple valve lap would take care of it... I also have a set of stock valves, aftermarkets springs, and valve seals for the vortec heads

Keep in mind that depending on the patterns of the cam you may need two different length pushrods to make it right - one for the intakes and one for exhausts. The correct adjustable pushrod tool is the one that covers the 7.120" ballpark.

if i was using comp lifters, roller rockers, and cam would they know what size lenth to use? i cant afford to have my truck down for more then 1-2 days due to work and school and wnat every single part there when i tear this thing apart, having it down for 2 weeks waiting on pushrods to come in it NOT and option.

No need to replace the stock lifters, they are capable of a GREAT DEAL more than what's asked of them in the production L31.

Your only shot at someone knowing the correct size would be if every component of the valvetrain, including the cam, was from the same company. And even then the head gasket thickness is important.

Honestly, if this is your daily driver and you depend on it that much, don't **** with it. You are not in a position to go down this road. Anyone else on this forum also getting twice the stock power out of their smallblock can also tell you about the downtime that goes along with it. Stuff will break. If you need your truck there every day ready to roll you're making a serious mistake with the performance crap.
