Default Cam questions

I know you guys are sick of these threads but I have been searching and cant find what I need.

Im looking for a cam for my 01, its a 5.3/auto rcsb z71. Lowered 2/4, 3.73 gears and 245s. I might put 4.10s in it in the spring.

Stuff I have in my garage are Outlaw CAI, Corsa Sport, ASP. I put ZO6 springs in the truck when I had the motor out. After winter I am going to do lt's, WCCH heads, and maybe a small shot of nitrous, Ive also thought about an ls6 intake but unsure on that. Im also gunna run a higher stall, probably a 3000-3400 depending on what cam I get.

Im putting on an 06 front clip and changing the color of the truck so the front end is apart and Id like to put the cam in it now. So Im looking for some advice on a cam. Now I know a lot of people will probably tell me to get a 212 218 but we just put one in my friends truck and I wasnt too impressed with it. Another friend of mine has a 222/224 in his truck and I like the cam in that a lot. Both are stock height ecsb Z71s with tb stalls btw.

Now I was thinking with the flow of the 5.3 heads, getting a cam that was a longer duration but not crazy high lift. The Comp 277 was one I was looking at, its a 224/228 with around .540 lift. But Im wodnering if thats good for stock heads and if its stil going to be good once I do heads, or if its just a completely stupid choice. lol

So I could use advice on heads and a cam, like I said the cam I'll do now but the heads Im gunna wait until spring, but I want to get a cam and heads that will work well together.

So if anyone has the ambition to read this novel and help me out Id greatly appreciate it.

If you do a cam like the comp 277 and then upgrade your heads later, you can put a higher ratio roller rocker to make your lift increase to go with the better flow of the new heads.

I would go with a 224 if you are going heads. And get something with more lift like .580 or so so you can get more out of the heads. At least 3200 converter.

So you think the 224 would be a good choice then? I also was trying to keep it around .570 lift for the zo6 springs, Id rather not use 918s or anything.

Dam Luke, heads now huh? Big spender! 4:10s, 3200 stall, came along way from a tb stall and a tr220.

try the TSP 224R, has more lift than the TR224, FMS also has some larger cam profiles
