Cam Question
#1
Ok, I see that alot of guys put z06 cams in a 4.8 or 6.0 cams in a 5.3 etc.. I have always been told that there are so many variables to picking a cam to each application that it just seems unlikely to me that these cams for other motors will benefit as much as just buying a grind spec'd for your particular motor...Or is it that hard to get LS1 cams that these are our best options? Just a curious question, interested to see what people have to say. Also...is it a Must to program for cam? Or will engine "learn". Thanks.

I think alot of people use the GM factory cams (from a Z06 for example) because they are very affordable. I would go with aftermarket. Some cams may not require tuning but, with tuning you can get more out of the cam.

we have a HUGE cam selection for our motors. whatever you want you can get
people often go with cams from other motors because they are cheap and very available. also when you do this there isnt much of a need to wory about changing the stall converter, upgrade springs and all that other fun stuff. they will normally run fine with factory tuning but performance tuning will get the most out of the cam.
does that answer any of your question?

Yea sure does. Appreciate it. You guys know what happens when u put a stall converter in? Do you need to program for that too? Seems like you would never be done programing. Also... is say, a Diablo handheld tuner near as good as a "hard" tune that you put in?
