Default Cam question

I know that many people put the Z06 cam in their trucks and get respectable results. Heres my questions.
Which year z06 cam is the best? Any tuning needed and will it work with the HPP3? I know I need to change out my springs, but Can I use my stock rockers, pushrods and retainers? What gains have been seen on a 99 5.3L? Is it a very reliable cam/ no chance that it could make anything fail instide the motor? Anything else I need to know about this cam and does anyone have a z06 cam and spring set they want to sell? Sorry for all the questions?

search button. type in ls6 cam
but just goin off of the 100 or so threads i've red: use the '01 cam. less of a regular split. tighter lsa. change pushrods b/c it revs into the 6k range. 31rwhp i think i've heard. its from gm. gotta be reliable. and bottom end should suck.

You can keep the stock rockers and retainers. I would change first valve springs then pushrods in that order for a higher lift cam and reving your engine past 6k. I say go with a Comp Cam if you can and a custom tune instead of your HPP3 to get the most out of your cam.
