cam question

Default cam question

i dont know if i heard this correctly, but a while back i think there was thread question about putting an ls1 cam in a truck engine. by doing this well there be a hp gain or anything? im asking this because my bro will soon be putting an ls6 cam in his 2002 TA and if it will help any, i will put his cam in my truck. - thanx

Yes, that cam should be a nice upgrade in his TA. I would not go with that ls6 cam in a truck unless I do stall of 3K or more. Several people have had favorable results with that cam but it only pulls nice up high in the rpm range.

so if i put his stock ls1 cam in my truck it will be a good upgrade for my truck then right? what else will i have to do? will i have to do any other changes? what kind of hp gain or torq gain will there be?

For a truck you should use the 2001 ls6 cam and advance it about 4 to 6 degrees.

The ls6 cam put in the same way will work fine with a S/C.
