In the process of installing my Comp cam and z06 springs (see sgi). Anything I shoudl watch for, or any guidlines that need to be followed on the break-in periods of my new top end? I've heard to let the engine warm up before rompin on it or you can break a spring...any info. fact or opinion is welcome because I don't wanna f' anything up!!! I'm running Castrol right now and will prolly change over to Mobil one 5w30 after 3000 miles, I was told this was the break in period..correct?
THANKS!!! I'll let ya'll know how it runs on Sunday!

You'll need to let it idle for several minutes just to get the coolant back to normal levels. After its warmed up and coolant is full, take it for a several mile drive. Vary the rpms some and watch you temp and oil gauges. Stop and check the levels. If everything is good and sounds right, give it hell.

These cams are rollers ... there aren't any break in's for rollers to speak of. Just make sure all your fluids are good. I always let mine sit and idle for a while before I test drive it. I will let it sit and idle with the coolant lid off until it gets up to operating temperature, filling as needed, then a little longer just to make sure. After that, put the cap on and let it build up pressure to make sure nothings leaking. Then give it a road test.

Thanks for the info guys! Actually, a friend of mine who is a gearhead mechanic is doing the swap, so he should be right on the money on those suggestions. I was just inquiring for my benefit when I get the truck back. THANKS!!!
