Default cam position sensor going out

got a buddy that has a 05 or 06 escalade with a 6.0 in it. he says the engine light came on and he took it to autozone and they said it was the cam position sensor that needed to be replace. i told him i could replace it for him. my question is, is it just as simple as to take out the old one and put in the new one or does the computer need to be flashed or what? thanks fellas

The Autozone hand held reader is capable of clearing all trouble codes so after you swap in a new sensor have Autozone clear the code if it doesn't automatically go away by itself. If, after you swap in the new sensor and have the trouble code erased, the SES light comes back on then it's something else.

Yes, it should start up no problem, but the code may still need to be cleared
