Default Cam Pos. Sensor

I am beginning to believe my cps is messed up. I am not getting a code but ever since cam install the truck stalls slightly and is most noticeable around 40-60 mph. For example, if I set my cruise on 45, it does it about every quarter mile. Not a major thing but you can deffinately feel it. My co worker has a 97 Z71 and his was doing something similiar but a good bit more pronounced, and it was the CPS. Can one be damaged by a cam install? I have never had it out so I am not sure what it looks like. I am not sure how to check it either, so I was just wondering if anybody else has dealt with this before.

I haven't heard of one being damaged by a cam install, but who knows.

Its located on the very back of the engine, on top, under the intake. Its held on by one bolt. Its a black plastic part with metal mount. The majority of the sensor is hidden inside of the block, where it extends down so it can check the cam. To remove, undo the electrical connector, remove the bolt, and slide it out.

ok Thanks. I checked my repair manual and they don't give very much info on how to diagnose problems with it. I guess it is like you said - who knows.
