Cam/Performance mods for CCSB 2500HD

This would be a great cam for the application.
The 212/218 low lift is better than the high lift version in the lower RPMs, not only that, but if you can find a set of assembled 243 heads, the stock "yellow" springs would work great with that cam. So it'd be one less thing that you have to buy, and even if you can't find some assembled heads, the springs are like $64.

looks like everyone has you set. Just get the 212/218 lowlift if you really want all the low end power. Like you said you rarely go over 4000rpm's so more of a top end cam is out of the picture. If I had your heavy truck I would go with a torque cam as well.

Honestly i would stick with the 317 heads, possibly mill them. The only thing gained by going to a 243 head would be compression from a smaller cc combustion chamber.
I would also run the stock 78mm truck intake because its plenum volume is smaller and will keep air speed up so it very responsive down low and torquey.
Also you may want to check in to vinci Hi performance cams.
The 210/218 they offer in 4 different styles that should fit your needs well also!

Just wanted to update...
I got Richard (Atomic) to tune my 2500 and it's like a whole different truck now. I've noticed I don't have to give it near as much throttle to get up to speed and it takes less throttle while cruising.
He took off some torque management and played with the converter lockup and I think shift points, along with fuel/timing and I couldn't be happier.
I'll probably wait a while to do anything internal, it's nice just having a stock truck that runs perfectly everytime you start it up haha.
Eventually I'm going to take the tr224 out of my Tahoe and sell/trade it for something smaller, but until then I'm pretty satisfied.
