I bought this from TSP is it normal for a cam to look like this new?

I can assure you that all of our camshafts are brand new. But some new camshafts do look like that from Comps heat treating and machining processes.

Yes, new cams do occasionally look like that. The only concern would be the scratches on the cam bearing journal. If its raised up it might need a light polish so you don't damage cam bearings.

If you can feel them with your fingernail it would be something to look into, but it is hard to tell by the pictures.
