Default Cam for my truck

Hey guys,
found two cams that i think would be decent for my truck, and i was looking for some opinions from yall.

I plan on going to a 3k Stall with either one of these and later in the year add a STS kit.
What are yalls thoughts on these two cams and prices for them(used)?

221/221 558/558 114lsa 110icl ($240)

216/220 .561/.564 114LSA ($375)

My truck right now has e-fans, nelson, intake and exhaust..
With cam purchase im going with transcooler, shift kit, 3k stall all at the same time... and later in the year sts as mentioned above...
So shoot me some of yall's opinions please!

Well you need to make sure that you are going to purchase the STS kit. A cam for a turbo is totally different from the norm. Here ya go.

1. Since you will be buying a STS I would go with the 2800 vigilante, or if you dont want to spend that much I still think the TCI 3000 stall is good for the price. Either converters will stall right were almost full boost is. The TCI is gonna be a little looser and the Vigilante would be better for towing. Yank is also good but for the price I perfer the Vigilante over the Yank, but they are all good.

2. Turbo cams here ya go I think any of these will work well

220/214 duration, .564"/.559", 114lsa
222/218 duration, .566"/.563", 114lsa
224/218 duration, .581"/.563", 114lsa
226/220 duration, .570"/.564", 114lsa
226/222 duration, .570"/.566", 114lsa

They are all offered form Combintaiton Motorsports made by Comp Cams and will work well with your 4.8. The cams you listed wouldnt work well with the STS.

Also since you live in Texas go to Nelson and have a Custom dyno tune done. I think with what info I gave you will work.

i cant provide any useful info to you about cams but i think 1quick5.3 did a good job.

i was wondering who makes that 216/220 .561.564 114lsa cam. i was looking at the same intake and exhaust only this one lifted to .525/ .532. i like how much more lift that one has.

Combination Motorsports did a excellent job in making custom cam designs. This is really were I get all my cam info from. There just different than the norms posted around here. And they usually have quite a bit more lift. After I get the Procharger I am gonna get the 218/224 .563/.568 114 I just think it would be badass with the Procharger, 11psi, 3 core intercooler and a 3200 stall & 3.90 gears - I cant wait!

oh, and would i be hurting my performance/engine if i were to throw in one of the cams that you suggested before putting in the sts or should they be put in at the same time?

YES you could go ahead and put in one of those cams and of course with the added duration you would need a updated tune. But they would still work fine NA, but when you install the STS that cam will really shine.

If I were to but one of those cams I think I would go with the 220/214 cam.

im selling my cam and rockers.

216-220-525-532-114 with slp 1.85 rockers which puts it near the 5598 to 562 lift.
