Default cam for LQ9

I am swapping my motor 5.3, and putting in a LQ9 6.0. I heard about the new comp cam XFI for the trucks. Would that also work with the LQ9. One other thing, if I get a cam do i have to get new springs retainers?? Or any other good cams out there? Not looking for anything wild. Thanx

That cam is on the mild side, not a bad thing if you are not planning a lot of additional mods.If you are planning a lot of future mods you would probably want more cam.I'd ask Compcams tech line, what parts are nessesary with that cam I suspect that either a set of Comp 918 springs or a set of LS6 springs without the titanium retainers would do fine.

I will gladly give you my opinion on a cam for your LQ9
truck configuration?
current mods?
future mods?
goals?
drag racing or towing or combo?
driveability goals?
mileage goals?
Are you more concerned about torque or horse power?
who will tune it?
are you going to do the install or are you paying someone to?

Its a ext cab short bed, no other mods on the motor. I have a rebuilt 4l60e w/ vette servo, boost value. Other mods would just be small ones, like intake, headers, ...
I well be towing i little not looking for drag, but wouldn't mind looking like an idiot when at the track. I want drivablity. Torque, and i would install, but having synergy motor sports tune it.

Cool

If Synergy is going to tune your truck I would discuss your goals with them as well. Then you will be able to compare notes with people on this forum as well to get some opinions and maybe some results from people with similar mods. You should try and define some goals first and then try to find solutions to achieve them.

With those tires, I would worry about gears before a cam. Just my .02
