Default Cam installed, now which headers?

I know that the vast majority of the people are running AS&M's, but I had a thought...tell me if I'm right or wrong...

I thought that the tri-y design--like the Thorleys--are good for torque, but not necessarily as good up top. Would running a tri-y boost the low end and kill off some of the gain that I've gotten with the cam?

How are the torque numbers from the AS&M users? Anyone see a significant gain/loss in torque with tthese headers?

Which should I choose--better torque or more horsepower?

I run ASMs and really like them but if price is an issue the tri-wye system has been used by sports car manufacturers for years to improve low and midrange performance on their small high reving engines.I would think they would have the same effect with our truck engines.

No computer tuning yet...I'm either going to get the Diablo or maybe EDIT, but I haven't decided yet.

Will the tri-y's make me loose top end power though? I guess that I'm trying to have my cake and eat it too, but I really want to take steps forward with this setup and not go backwards.

We need some comparitive header testing... Anyone got some "sample products" they are willing to put to the test? I've got faculties for installation and access to a 248C dynojet. Any takers?

The only way you would get a fair comparison is to set up a motor in a dyno cell to test all the headers on the same engine under controlled conditions.Maybe one of the magazines like GM Hytech would be interested and the header manufacturers would do it for the exposure.
