Default Cam install problems

I got a new ls6 cam and springs, but have a few questions on installing it. When I removed the intake man. I saw that the lifters are not visible from the valley. I guess I am too used to working on old V-8's. How can i change the cam without being able to pull the lifters? Do i need to pull the heads off. Also how do i adjust the valves. The rockers dont seem to be adjustable. Do i just tighten them down and they are set? One more thing, should i replace the lifters when i do the swap? My truck is a '99 silverado with a 5.3. Any help would be very helpful.

ls1's arent the same as the old v8's for doing cam installs. for these you dont have to take off the intake manifold or the heads. just take off the valve covers to get to that stuff. i have never done a cam install so i cant really talk in detail, but here is a cam install page with pictures for an ls1. hope this helps...

dont you have to degree the cam? or is just lining the timing chain and cam marks up okay (as they imply)?
