If your careful you can reuse the water pump gasket and timing cover gasket, but examine them closely before reuse. I would repalce the pulley seal. The plugs are 14mm. I'd install a double Rollmaster and ported pump while your at it. These items aren't too expensive and your reliability will increase along with your oil pressure. It sounds oxymoronic to skimp on gaskets if your going to buy an aftermarket timing set and oil pump, but my gaskets were in such good condition I didn't hesitate to reuse them even though I had a complete new gasket set on hand. Those new gaskets are still setting on the shelf for the next tear down which hopefully won't be for a long time. Use plenty of assembly lube or oil as you put everything back together. If you do install a double row timing set I can give you some tips on how to get the oil pump pickup tube bolt back in. That can be very tricky because of the 3mm spacers required with the double row timing set.

8 mil with a shoulder

I wouldn't worry with the gaskets. Just don't yank on them and they will be fine.

LOL ... if a 4.8 can't run a choppy cam, I wonder what you would call 01Thunder's cam.

My truck with 4.8 has a choppy lope. It has a 112 LSA and I gutted my cats. With headers and a dual cat-back it sounds mean, but it is quiet at idle although yoiu can hear the lope.
