Default Cam help PLEASEE

I have a 2000 Z71 with the 5.3. I am shooting for 14's
I found a good deal on a few used cams and am unsure what would be best.

one is form a 2000 camaro. one from a 99 camaro ss one from a 99 vette and a custom 209/218 .544/.563@1.7 114lsa.
I do a good bit of four wheeling, so want low end power, and its a daily driver so good idle is important also. I don't speak CAM very well so I really appreciate the help. Also will I need a custom tune? If so will a hypertech tune work till I can save for a Nevson tune?
Thanks

2000 camaro, 99 camaro, and 99 vette ones will all kill your low end.. i htink all those cams only make good power above 5500 rpms and suck down low wince they are 117-118 LSA..

the custom would be the better one over those, but i htink you might need a idle raise? Maybe some of the guys can help ya with that..

the 206/212 114 would be a killer low end custom cam if you can find one.. thats what im looking for lol. I value my 4x4 and low end to much.. i have a 00 vette cam with his 115.5 lsa, but im not gonan install since it will eat up my low end to much

Thanks for the advice. I'm dumb when it comes to cam numbers. Don't know what they do. I kind of know what they mean, but not how they apply to the powerband.

I Am Not Sure But I Just Phone With A Few Friends And Asking Them About The Lobe Sep And We All Thought The Same Thing The Higher The Lobe The Better The Low End Was The Lower The # On Obe Sep. The The More Top End You Will Have And The Higher The Power Range Will Be. I Am Going To Call Geoff Monday To See.we Have Been Putting The 207/217 525/525 116 Lob In A Lot Of Truck Form 5.3 Racers To 6.0 One Tons And They All Love It To Me That Is The Best All Around Cam You Can Get.with Tuning Not Needed If Just Want That Little Diff.

I wouldnt run a HPP tune anyway either... if anything just raise the shift points and limiter with that. People said they saw 4tenths from the shift points being raised to make more power. But you get nothing from putting their tune in there

Crane makes a handheld that has pre programmed cam slections in it.. you can also raise the idle with their porgrammer and loads of other stuff such as timing and etc

thats the only hand held I would get...

big tex saw 30hp from a ls6 cam.. but from what ive seen its a dog below 3500 rpms since it has such a high LSA, but screams up top

thought you could use this

.........................Varying Lobe Separation Angle.....................................
...............Tighten............................ ..............Widen
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Moves Torque to Lower RPM..............Raise Torque to Higher RPM
Increases Maximum Torque................Reduces Maximum Torque
Narrow Powerband...........................Broadens Power Band
Builds Higher Cylinder Pressure............Reduce Maximum Cylinder Pressure
Increase Chance of Engine Knock........Decrease Chance of Engine Knock
Increase Cranking Compression...........Decrease Cranking Compression
Increase Efective Compression...........Decrease Efective Compression
Idle Vacuum is Reduced....................Idle Vacuum is Increased
Idle Quality Suffers..........................Idle Quality Improves
Open Valve-Overlap Increases...........Open Valve-Overlap Decreases
Closed Valve-Overlap Increases.........Closed Valve-Overlap Decreases
Natural EGR Efect Increases..............Natural EGR Efect is Reduced
Decreases Piston-to-Valve Clerance....Increases Piston-to-Valve Clerance
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lobe Separation Angle
-----------------------------------
Above 114 Deg. = Extremely Wide
114-112 Deg. = Wide
112-110 Deg. = Moderately Wide
110-108 Deg. = Moderate
108-106 Deg. = Moderately Tight
106-104 Deg. = Tight
Below 104 Deg. = Extremely Tight

Thanks for the help. I think you may have cleared it up some. I got a killer deal on a 99 vette cam 199/207 472/479 117lsa and it is pretty much worthless to me? Oh well. Better to find out before I put it in my truck and found out. Right? Anyway thanks for saving me the time.
