Default CAM help

ive got an 04 silverado with the 4.8l and a 5speed im wanting to install a cam i have a friend that wanted to put a 6.0l cam out of a gto in this weekend but i want something thats going to perform and hit a lick if you know what i mean i want it to be heard and make a noticable difference in the performance, and the 6.0 cam just wont do. does anyone have any ideas for a good cam choice,im also going with a set of LT pacesetters and off road y-pipe for better exhaust flow and will probably set up for a dyno tune or custom tune from my buddy

I don't think it's a easy swap. I believe the 6.0 cam is a ls2 cam so you need some other parts. Do an LS2 search and you will get more info on what is needed.

I wouldn't waste your time on that cam, it won't be much a difference and it won't "hit a lick" look around in the internal engines section an do some more research. you'll be happier in the long run with whatever cam you do decide to use.

I would go with a VRX-4! 228/230.http://www.vengeancerd.com/cart/products.php?cat=115
Here's a vid of a 228/232 in a 4.8. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...58366744349086

You have a stick so that means you are obligated to get a big *** cam. IMO

Lator man,

Gator
Those are both WAAAY too big for a 4.8L. I have a 224/224 on 112 lsa in my 5.3L and even in my bigger engine it's not the best for daily driving. I would go no bigger than a 220/220

I know you may lose some low end torque with a big cam but I think he's wanting more than power...I think he's wanting it for the sound! Oh and a 228/230 is going to sound wicked compared to a little 220/220.
