by the way MTI did that 220 cam on a 5.3 of a buddy of mine and it is a freak truck but with a 6.0 I would definately go atleast with a 224..
richard at WCCH gave me the impression that porting the chambers and etc were meant for SC setups and etc. And that he didnt reccomend doing the CNC work for trucks that were NA since you didnt see the gains. I cant explain exactly what he said but maybe he can chime in. I mighta misunterstood what he said also lol

Native, I forgot you had the 6.0 and that 2600 should stall around 2800 in your's. The 224 cam would be great, but the 220 would work fine also. Its a candy factory to pick from lol. A 221- 222 would be perfect if you could find one

your shift extension will suck if you keep your converter and go with a 224 cam.
i vote for the 220 and no heads just to see where it puts you. you can always throw on heads later.

Could this be because of some limitations of the CNC equipment? MTI apparently does a lot of hand work on their heads and believe they are much better than the CNC ported versions. I can understand that.

Apparently the opinion of most is that my NA LQ9 would not benefit from the Stage 2 heads?

Opinions on throwing a 100 shot of nitrous on top of that 220? There is a certain quad cab SRT10 I would love to give hell that is in the 12.6s.

I dont really now but im sure the other shops know how to hand port a little here and there also to get better numbers on top of their average CNC head. I know when I got me TEA heads for my 98TA they hand touched a few spots on them to get some better all around performance.

I always thought more flow was better so I was shocked to here otherwise also on NA setups.

Im gonna order the stage 1 heads from WCCH if I ever get my cash together.. those just have a valve job, bigger valves, and they will be milled a litte

I ordered a 3200 when I had the 5.3, but know with the 6.0, the motor has more torque so now it flashes at 3900-4000

Guys, thanks for all the advice. I decided to go with... absolutely nothing that was recommended. Figures. It did get me to do a lot of thinking and I had some good conversations with a few shops. I have decided to bring the truck to Nelson Performance. Allen will be putting on PRC Stage 2.5 heads from Texas Speed with a Comp Cam 215 223 .629 .636 112. This should give a lot of low and mid range performance without having spin the motor up above 6200 rpm.

let us know how much that helps when you get it done. I want to do heads and cam too but I'm scared I'll break my trans. So i to the chicken **** way and I'm saving for the flt 4l65 level 5 and s pi 26-3000k stall now sure what to go with yet on the pi. Once that's in Next purchase will be heads and cam and hopefully I'll be done then.
