Default Cam and Heads/N2O question

Hey guys...I've got a buddy that has a black 01 or 02 C3, cowl hood, chrome 18's, looks good, I plan on getting some pics of it along with my truck to post on my site, should be cool. My question is this.....

He has a the 6.0L full time all wheel drive, had to have a bunch of computer stuff to get rid of that tow package cylinder kill thing, it has a ProCharger and front mount intercooler, exhaust, headers, and custom tuning. He is putting a set of ported and polished heads on it, 6.0L heads I believe, and possibly N2O, but I was curious of what would be a good size cam to throw in with that setup? Are there custom grind blower cams or maybe just a 224/224, or a 230/230, or a 230/224 dual pattern. Any ideas? Thanx, pics on the way!

There are plenty of shelf grin cams available but if your freind seeks optimized power he will definatley benefit from a custom grind. If in fact he is considering a dual power adder (s/c and n2o) then a split duration cam with some substantial exhaust duration would compliment his mods.
Using a s/c combined with n2o, fast ramp lobes are not going to be as essential for cylinder filling and will prove to save your valvetrain from undue stress. You can focus on port dynamics in the heads and go with stable and proven valvetrain.
Power would defeinately see some big gains with careful attention to the exhaust component of the cam. Be sure what you pic will give you enough duration to expell all the gasses and be early enough to make peak power but not contaminate the intake charge. Keep LSA in the 112-115 area will make for peak cylinder pressure but you must consider component strength and where you want to shift the torque/power curve.

Off topic, but blownfornow, What kind of times are you running with your setup? Sounds like you have a sweet ride. Same question on the C3? Do you know what your friend is running?

Thanks for the welcome man. I'm only new to posting, not reading, I have a lot of friends with LS1's so I keep informed .My truck is actually kinda dissapointing in the times section...makes good power but best time is a 13.97@98mph... I have the stock PCM in it and the rev limiter is 5200rpm...I will scan my dyno next time I am home (won't be for three weeks) but you will see that my rev limiter cuts off my power before it ever peaks...so I hope with a new computer and tuning to hit around 350rwhp and torque won't change much, and it does have a beautiful flat torque "curve". It starts pulling so hard around 3800rpm and it doesn't quit pulling except for the damn rev limiter, so once I take care of it I'll have new numbers. As for his truck he hasn't ran it yet as far as I know, he's always getting work done to it $$$$. He's older than I, at 20, he's around 35 or so, but he let me drive that thing the third time I met him and I LOVE it!! He's got a killer stereo and XM radio, man I can't wait to get some pics for you guys. And I'll get him to the track after his new setup.

As for the cam, oxidizr, that's some killer info...one more question...you said fast ramp lobes are not essential, so do they make concave cams for those things to slow down valve opening?? What cam and specs might YOU prefer?

Thanx again! and if you guys wanna see pics of my truck..click here
