Question cam and heads

I have a 2001 GMC Sierra 4x4 with a 4.8 and I'm wanting to change out the cam and heads. Can anyone give me some good suggestions?

How much are you willing to spend on heads. I'd go weith a P&P 5.3 head so you don't loose compression. Depends on heads for what cam too.

What else do you have done to the trcuk, what about a torque converter, are you planning on getting a new one and if so how big?

The truck is lifted 6" and I am running 33in Super Swampers as far as the engine I have a k&n intake, gran map sensor, bbk throttle body, electric fans, jba headers, gibson exhaust and hypertech programmer. Not much on the drive train except for switching to 4:10 gears. I don't want to spend over $2000 on the heads. I am still running the stock converter but I want to change it out, probably no high than 2500 stall. I'm not real good when it comes to determining what will work the best or get me the most power when it comes to engine work so i'm looking to the exsperts for advice.
