are you guys running into problems cooling the engine down with the smaller radiator or what??

or is it like everything else where people think bigger is better? My truck seems to run just fine with the clutch fan and the smaller radiator even with the blower in there heating things up......

GMCtrk had some overheating problems with his LQ9 and LS1 fans...I think that he mentioned that his fans weren't coming on high with the ac on though, IIRC

I got the high speed working, had a loose connection. It made no difference though. The fans couldn't keep the engine under 225 degrees (according to EFI live, not the dash gauge...that one doesn't move from 200 F until you actually hit 230 F ). There was no way I was going to run those LS1 fans while towing....80e never broke a sweat though. Even at the track when it was 70F ambient outside, the fans on high couldn't bring the truck down less than 217 by the time I got to the line. Really craps out WOT performance. Got the clutch fan back on there and it runs a constant 192-198. Highest I've seen is 207F stop and go with the AC blasing, 100F outside. If I ever decide to mess with Efans again, it will be nothing less than the 34" rad and 05 fans, you know, the stuff meant to cool a fullsize truck, not a 3500lb car.

01 Thunder also had issues with Efans if I recall, but also had issues with cooling with the clutch fan as well. Pretty sure he simply exceeded the capacity of the stock 28" radiator.

Sinking to much into this 4.8. Just might as well put in the 6.0. More cost efficient. I can put money in the 4.8 all day, but by far the most gain will come from a 6.0. Taking some leave in the end of August to put it in. Gives me time to find a decent engine too.

I liked it plus it was close to the same pics as a base model 4.8 RCSB. Leather, all power and yes the racing stripes.
