I never liked the Hotcam in F-bodies let alone trucks. LOL

You can definately make the power but I think there are better alternatives for us truck guys that wont sacrifice drivability.

I feel any cam that is going to make awesome power though will require good tuning. My Synergy 226 cam sucked *** for driving without tuning and the power wasn't much better than my 02' LS6 cam but with tuning it drove PERFECT and made kick *** power! Trapping 97mph N/A (stock motor) in a 5000lb raceweight truck is pretty good IMO. It had a nasty lope too. So bad in fact you could sit at a stoplight and the antenna would shake back and forth as the whole truck rocked side to side like an old muscle car.

would the TR 220 be a good choice? Would it provide both power and drivability?

the hot cam has too much duration for our trucks. it will suck alot down low. with a big truck like your i'd go with the comp 216/220 with the tb stall.

you can go to ls1sounds.com and listen to the hotcam in some 5.7L. I don't think I would go with it in a 5.3L....its a little choppy in the 5.7L.

Drivability with a cam is as good as the tuning done.

Daily driven on a 233/239 here.

i have one in a 6.0L, no complaints. down low the engine feels like a stock 5.3, mid range and above is . i have a pcmforless tune that i haven't touched except for lowering the idle(725). i am still using the stock converter.

It should be ok but you prolly will bog a little as far as performance goes but your drivability should be just fine. Might wanna get it restalled up to a 3000rpm stall. I think that i am gonna go with a similar cam but im gonna get it ground with a little more lift. First i gotta find out where my built TB stall stalls at.
