I would think not...no compression if they are out of phase. If it did run I would think it would pop out of the throttle body or exhaust.

Yes, it will. It will run poorly however. That is actually known as advance or retarding the cam timing. On race engines, it's common practice in engine tuning. Most all of the Gen3 cams have 4* of advance built into them, so anymore will usually negatively affect the performance.

I'll move this to the performance section. Maybe someone who knows more about this than I will expand for some clarification and symptoms.

the reason why im asking is i had the truck dyno tuned a few weeks ago and i only made 240 to the wheels.... i was thinking maybe the cam gear and crake gear might be off a tooth...just trying to find my problem!! maybe its all in my tune...im just pissed cause i spend all this money on the truck and see 15 more horse....soemthings not right! plus the damn truck wont even stay running when you start it up...runs for like 3 seconds then shuts off....i just have to feather the pedel for about 15 seconds then it will run fine.....also it idels at about 675 then it will drop down to 300 then it jumps back up to 675....and its all in a pattern... nothing ever works out for me!!

tires being way out of balance could be a small portion of it, but the BFG a/t's balance well even after wear.

im positive it's your tune. i think you had a thread the other day about it, you were runnin somethin crazy like 17.5 afr? that coulda fucked somethin up right there.
