Im gettin real itchy to buy a cam! I have ruled out the B1 cam cause it seems to be a bit big. I do plan to install a Yank 3000 either before or after the cam. (havent decided on that). And i know im gonna tune it with the preadator.
So which one would be better out of these 2? Im lookin to gain 30-40 rwhp hopefully! So which do u suggest, my mods already, are in the sig. And i do plan to upgrade the valvesprings.
Here is a comparison on the cam #'s.
Comp cam 216/220. lift is .525/.532 LSA is 114
GM Hotcam 218/228. lift is .525/.525 LSA is 112

When I had my 5.3 heads ported I was originally going to go with a 220/224 cam but was told that it may be a bit too big for our smaller displacement. I take it you're going to run un-ported heads? I'd probably go with the smaller one, just my opinion. Either one you go with should work well with that converter. Good luck

I have the 216/220 cam and Have tuning issues. I sent my predator to diablo for a custome tune and it helped alot. It still has problems once and a while. The cam has a lope to it and people can hear it at the stop lights. If you really want it to lope then have one ground on a 110 lobe sep. That will quicken your ramp rates but if you determine on a rough idle then get that. I lost alot down low with this cam . This cam works well with nitrous. Diablo only set my max rpms to 6000 just like it was new and now my programmer has crashed. I have to send it back for then to build a new one. I tried {i know it is a no no} spraying a 100 shot out of the hole to kinda act like if i had a stall and it worked awesome. This cam pulls hard from 2800 to 6000. I am sure it pulls farther but that is all my POS will do right now.

I use the 2001 blue z06 valve springs. Yeah i felt a SOTP increase when it hit about 2800 rpms. With this cam I strongly suggest a stall of at least 3000. This cam took alot away down low and I would not suggest going bigger if your only going to do so much to your engine. A stock truck will take me from a dig until I get into my rpm range but if your going from a roll you should pull pretty good. I took off my cats so I can really hear the lope on this cam. If you have any more question feel free to ask

It pulls hard from the mid to the top. I got layed off from work and that is why i didnt buy my stall. I bought my kit from a guy on here named HYDE. He can build you a kit pretty cheap. He built mine from all NOS products and built all the brackets so there was no drilling. I gained about 35 hp , My guess anyway. I would get your stall and then tuner before i got the cam. You will see instant results with the stall and if you get the cam after it you wont lose your power down low
