Default Cam choice, new to this

Anyone tried or know of the Rollin Thunder RPm cms from Edelbrock? Im leaning torwards the 220/224 510/510 111 LSA, starting out with the TB converter till I get a Yank or Circle D, anybody have any experience with these cams, and ball park figure I can expect to gain in the 1/4? 14.007 now with stock cam and stock converter.. thanks guys

That is not a bad cam especially for a 5.3 but I would look at getting more lift.

I would say get one speced from Patrick G...Spend $25 tell him what you are wanting and let him work his magic. I think in the end you will be much happier. Off the shelf camshafts are great but one speced out for your combination is better.

As I am sure others will say. Even big cams can have good manners with a good tune.

What are all of the modifications that you have done to your truck? I personally wouldn't bother having a cam spec'd out unless you have a lot of internal engine mods, running boost, or spraying nitrous. There are plenty of proven cams out there for just the basic bolt-on 5.3l if that is what you have. A couple of things that you might want to consider when choosing your cam: your future mods (such as FI), how high your going to spin your engine, and also how big of a stall converter you are willing to run. I personally run the TSP 220/220 w/ 112lsa and am very happy with it. IMO just do the cam swap and drive it until you have the money for the circle d or yank converter.

headers, tune, truetrac with 3.73s, thats about it... im going to stick with n/a, and will be running a tb converter for now, till things get better and get a 3200 up, so i was thinking the tsp20 or 224, agressive idle comes from the lsa correct? so maybe a 110 or 112? thanks for the help guys

id go tsp220 cam, the 224 wont make any more power then this one till after 6500 rpm. and a 112 would be good on the lsa, the 110 will shake more at idle and be a bit harder to get a good idle on but if you have a good tuner that shouldnt be a problem, the 110 lsa makes the power come in a bit sooner and be a bit snapper, hp wise it wont change much.
