Cam advice for big tires
#1
I've got a 2003 5.3 Z71 that has 35" tires on it. I also have Thorley headers, pulleys, intake, magnaflow exhaust, and a Proflash programmer. I have no torque off idle. I want to do a cam swap. I tow a lot so that has to be put into consideration. Would the 212/218 .522/.529 on a 114 that everyone seems to like be good for me? Also would it run well with the Proflash programming? I know it's better to get it dyno tuned but that may not be in the budget right now.

Save your cash on the cam swap now and go with some 4.56:1 gears front and rear. That will get your missing power back and then some.
That is a nice cam choice for sure but those big heavy tires are killing your performance.
